Deploy your first app
Create the app, add its deploy key in GitHub, pick a branch and deploy.
This guide takes a repository from GitHub to a live HTTPS address. Allow about ten minutes.
Before you start
- Your code is in a GitHub repository. Public or private both work.
- You have a project to put the app in.
- For a paid size, you have at least 72 hours of that size's price in credit. The free size needs none.
1. Create the app
Open App Platform → New app and fill in:
- Project: where the app belongs.
- App name: letters, numbers,
-and_, starting and ending with a letter or number, for examplemy-landing. - Framework: choose Frontends or Backends, then your framework.
- GitHub repository:
owner/repo, the HTTPS URL or the SSH URL all work. - App size: the cheapest available size is preselected. See Sizes, free apps and billing.
Review the summary and create the app. Kubana opens the app's page.
2. Add the deploy key in GitHub
Kubana shows a public deploy key for this app.
- In GitHub, open your repository → Settings → Deploy keys → Add deploy key.
- Paste the key and give it a title, such as Kubana.
- Leave Allow write access unchecked.
- Back in Kubana, choose I've added the key, verify access.
The app status moves from Add deploy key to Verifying access, then shows that access is verified.
3. Finish the configuration
In the Configuration tab:
- Git branch: choose Load branches and pick the branch to deploy, usually
main. - Build directory (frontend apps only): the folder Kubana serves after the build, such as
/distfor Vite or/buildfor Create React App. It must be an absolute path without spaces. - Versions (Laravel only): pick the Laravel and PHP versions.
Need environment variables?
Add them in the Environment tab before the first deploy. See Set environment variables.
4. Deploy
Choose Deploy. Follow the build in the Deployments tab. When it finishes, choose Open app to visit your app's HTTPS address.
Next steps
- Deploy automatically on every push
- Use your own domain
