Sizes, free apps and billing
App sizes, the free tier, and exactly when an app starts and stops costing credit.
Each app runs at a size that sets its CPU, memory and disk. The sizes on offer depend on the framework.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Frontend | Free | 0.5 | 128 MB | 2 GB |
| Frontend | Nano | 0.5 | 128 MB | 2 GB |
| Frontend | Small | 1 | 256 MB | 5 GB |
| Backend | Small | 1 | 512 MB | 10 GB |
| Backend | Standard | 1 | 1 GB | 10 GB |
| Backend | Pro | 2 | 2 GB | 10 GB |
| Backend | Power | 2 | 4 GB | 10 GB |
Current prices are on the App Platform pricing page. The dashboard always shows the live price before you create an app.
Free apps
- Up to 2 free apps per account, counted across all projects.
- Free apps are never billed.
- A free slot is released when you terminate or destroy a free app.
When billing starts and stops
- Billing starts at the first deploy, by the hour from your credit. Monthly prices assume 720 hours.
- The price is locked at the first successful deploy.
- A stopped app is still billed. A terminated app is not.
- When you terminate, the final partial hour is charged as a full hour.
The app's Overview tab shows its billing state: Free size, never billed, Billing active, Billing active, still billed while stopped or Not billed, terminated.
The 72-hour credit check
Before the first deploy of a paid app, or a redeploy after terminating, your balance must cover at least 72 hours at that size's price. Top up if the deploy is refused for insufficient credit.
