How-to

Power, root password and deleting

Power a server off and on, reset its root password, or delete it for good.

Power off and on

On the server page, use the Power switch. You need the Can manage permission.

  • Power off stops all running processes, and the server becomes unavailable.
  • Power on starts it again. It's available once the process completes.

Powered off is still billed

A powered-off server still exists, so it's still billed by the hour. Delete it to stop paying.

Reset the root password

Open the server's Settings tab, then Reset root password and confirm. The server must be running and have a public IP. The current password stops working, and the new one is emailed to you within a few minutes. Check your spam folder. If it doesn't arrive, contact support.

If your account uses two-factor authentication, complete it first.

Delete a server

You need the Can delete permission.

  1. Open the server's Settings tab and choose Delete this server.
  2. Type the server name exactly to confirm, then Delete permanently.

Deletion starts immediately. The server and all of its data are destroyed, running processes stop, and teammates lose access.

This can't be undone

Copy anything you need off the server first. Kubana can't recover a deleted server.

From your AI assistant

With the VPS MCP server connected, your assistant can power a server on or off, reset its root password or delete it, for servers you own. Each of these needs an approval code that Kubana emails you. A new root password always goes to your email, never to the assistant.
