How prepaid credits work
One balance pays for everything: what is billed hourly, what is billed yearly, and where to see it.
Kubana is prepaid. You add credit to your account and every service draws from that one balance. There are no monthly invoices and no card on file being charged in the background.
Your currency
Your balance is kept in the billing currency you chose when you set up your account: USD, BIF or RWF. That choice is permanent.
What is billed how
| Billed by the hour | Paid per year |
|---|---|
| VPS servers | cPanel hosting |
| App Platform apps | Professional email |
| Domains |
- Hourly services are charged for every hour they exist. Monthly prices on the pricing page assume 720 hours.
- Yearly services are paid from your credit when you order or renew them.
Stopped is not deleted
A stopped server or app still exists and is still billed. To stop paying for an app, terminate it. To stop paying for a server, delete it. See Stop, terminate or delete an app.
Keeping enough credit
Some actions check your balance before they run:
- App Platform: a paid app needs at least 72 hours of credit available before its first deploy. See Sizes, free apps and billing.
- Domain renewals ask you to top up if your balance is too low.
Top up before you run low: Top up your credit.
See where your money goes
- Billing shows what you spent this month, last month and over the past six months. It also has a billing history you can filter by status and by resource type (server, domain, platform app).
- Credits lists your top-ups and their status.
- Billing notifications can email extra recipients, for example your accountant, on the 1st of each month.
Plan changes and refunds
Upgrades take effect immediately and are prorated. Downgrades apply at the next billing cycle and are not refunded. If something went seriously wrong with a service, contact support about a refund.
