Connect an AI assistant

How connecting works, what each Kubana MCP server can do, and what stays in the dashboard.

Kubana runs an MCP server for each product. Connect one to your AI assistant and you can ask about, and change, your Kubana resources in plain language.

Supported assistants

Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and VS Code. Step-by-step setup for each is on the MCP overview.

How connecting works

  1. Add the server URL to your assistant, for example https://api.kubana.cloud/mcp/app-platform.
  2. Sign in to Kubana when your assistant opens the browser, including two-factor authentication if you use it.
  3. Approve access. Kubana shows which assistant is asking and for which account. Choose Authorize.
  4. Ask away. The assistant works with your account's permissions.

No API key is needed, because access uses OAuth. Each product is a separate connector, so connect only the ones you use.

Once connected, the assistant appears on the Connections tab under MCP Servers in the dashboard. Some assistants only show up there after their first request.

What each server can do

Server Can Stays in the dashboard
App Platform Create, configure, deploy, roll back, read logs, manage variables and domains Nothing
Webmail Order plans, check DNS records, activate domains, create and delete mailboxes, change quotas, reset passwords Reading and sending email
VPS Create servers, power them on and off, reset root passwords, delete them, read metrics and SSH keys Servers shared with you
DNS Create zones, add, change and delete records, check nameservers Kubana NS records, deleting a zone that still has them
Domains Register and renew domains, set nameservers, read expiry and transfers, check availability Transfers, auto-renew, WHOIS privacy, EPP code
Shared Hosting Read accounts, disk usage and plans Buying and everything inside cPanel

By default, risky App Platform, Webmail, VPS, Domains and DNS actions need an approval code. You can change which ones do. For ideas, see What you can do with Kubana's MCP servers.

Disconnect

In the dashboard, open MCP Servers → Connections and click Revoke next to a server, or Disconnect all to remove the assistant entirely. It loses access immediately. You can also remove the Kubana connector in your assistant's settings.

To stop all assistants from using a product without disconnecting them, switch that server off instead. See Manage assistant access.

Cost

Connecting is free. Actions cost the same as doing them in the dashboard.
