Transfer a domain to Kubana
Unlock it, get the EPP code and move a domain from another registrar.
Move a domain you registered elsewhere to Kubana, so you can manage it next to your other services. Transfers usually take 5 to 7 days.
Before you start
At your current registrar:
- Unlock the domain. Turn off the registrar lock (also called transfer lock).
- Turn off WHOIS privacy for now, so the transfer approval email can reach you.
- Get the EPP code, also called the authorization code or transfer key.
- Check that you can read the registrant email. You'll need to approve the transfer from it.
Start the transfer
- Open Domains and the Transfer tab.
- Enter the domain and choose Start transfer. Kubana shows the duration and total cost.
- Paste the authorization code (EPP code).
- Keep privacy on if you want it after the transfer. It's free.
- Confirm. The cost is paid from your credit.
You'll get an email confirming the request. Approve the transfer from the registrant email when it arrives.
Follow the transfer
Open My domains → Transfers. Each transfer shows its status: pending, processing, completed, failed or cancelled.
If a transfer failed, the reason is shown under the domain. Fix the cause, for example by unlocking the domain or getting a fresh EPP code, then choose Retry. You can also Delete a failed transfer.
Common messages
| Message | What to do |
|---|---|
| is not registered yet, so it can't be transferred | Nobody owns it. Register it instead. |
| This domain cannot be transferred | Check that it's unlocked and wasn't registered or transferred in the last 60 days. Many registries block transfers in that window. Contact your registrar if unsure. |
| Authorization code seems too short | Copy the full EPP code again from your current registrar. |
